The Jasper County Hazard Mitigation Plan 2022 - 2027 was approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on March 7, 2023. The plan expires March 6, 2028. The final plan is available here, and the appendix is available here.

What is a hazard mitigation plan? This plan identifies how your community can minimize the negative impacts of hazards like tornadoes, drought, and flooding. In addition to the benefits of planning ahead, communities with a FEMA approved hazard mitigation plan qualify for Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Grant Programs to complete projects that minimize the negative impacts of hazards.

A FEMA approved hazard mitigation must be updated every five years, and Jasper County Emergency Management worked with the East Central Iowa Council of Governments (ECICOG) to complete a plan update. ECICOG worked with the county, cities, and school districts in Jasper County to identify hazard risks and potential projects to mitigate the negatives impacts.

If you or your community are interested in more information about the plan or Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) Programs including the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), and Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA), contact the Jasper County Emergency Management Agency(External link) at em@jasperema-hls.org(External link) or 641-792-7555.
